Pal Simon's Intelligentsia

The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men. ~ Plato

Since the Presidential election was stolen from Bernie Sanders, this writer has lost all interest in politics, lost all hope she can be useful in compaigns during her last years of life. Working for Bernie was Joyce's last political activity of her lifetime. This page is all that she is leaving for public consumption.  Other pages that  follow are all photos of interest only to family, and are private. In short, this
is a farewell site to friends and family who live after me.

Franklin D. Roosevelt shortly after giving an evening radio address to the people of the United States.

FDR recognized that his ability to push progressive legislation through Congress depended on the pressure generated by protesters - workers, World War I veterans, the jobless, the homeless, and farmers - even though he did not always welcome working closely with these constituencies. The well-worn story that ends with FDR telling a group of activists, 'I agree with you. Now, go out and make me
do it,' has never been documented, but it is emblematic of the New Deal era. As protests escalated throughout the country, FDR became more vocal, using his bully pulpit to criticize big business and to promote policies to jump-start the economy, protect the needy and expand workers' rights.
Roosevelt's First Inaugural Address set the tone for his agenda, and even though it wasn't specific or detailed, it clearly identified some of the main problems.

For example:

"Plenty is at our doorstep, but a generous use of it languishes in the very sight of the supply. Primarily this is because the rulers of the exchange of mankind's goods have failed, through their own stubbornness and their own incompetence, have admitted their failure, and abdicated. Practices of the unscrupulous money changers stand indicted in the court of public opinion, rejected by the hearts and minds of men.

"True they have tried, but their efforts have been cast in the pattern of an outworn tradition. Faced by failure of credit they have proposed only the lending of more money. Stripped of the lure of profit by which to induce our people to follow their false leadership, they have resorted to exhortations, pleading tearfully for restored confidence. They know only the rules of a generation of self-seekers. They have no vision, and when there is no vision the people perish.

"The money changers have fled from their high seats in the temple of our civilization. We may now restore that temple to the ancient truths. The measure of the restoration lies in the extent to which we apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit.

"Happiness lies not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort. The joy and moral stimulation of work no longer must be forgotten in the mad chase of evanescent profits. These dark days will be worth all they cost us if they teach us that our true destiny is not to be ministered unto but to minister to ourselves and to our fellow men.
"Recognition of the falsity of material wealth as the standard of success goes hand in hand with the abandonment of the false belief that public office and high political position are to be valued only by the standards of pride of place and personal profit; and there must be an end to a conduct in banking and in business which too often has given to a sacred trust the likeness of callous and selfish wrongdoing. Small wonder that confidence languishes, for it thrives only on honesty, on honor, on the sacredness of obligations, on faithful protection, on unselfish performance; without them it cannot live.

"Restoration calls, however, not for changes in ethics alone. This Nation asks for action, and action now."

Later he said Message to Congress on Curbing Monopolies, April 29, 1938  : "The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power."

John Adams, 1776 "Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity and happiness of the people; and not for the profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men. Therefore the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity and happiness require." --

If Bernie wins 67% of remaining 1083 allocated delegates beginning with Indianapolis today, he will have at least 2109 delegates and Hillary will only have 1999. He will have won the elections.

If, in all fairness, the 553 super delegates divide, 276 for Hillary and 277 for Bernie, the score would be 2275 for Clinton and 2385 for Bernie.

We have to hold the super delegate’s feet to the fire. Most of all we must pull hard for Bernie today and through June!

Don’t give up on the ONLY honest man in this election Vote Bernie!

If what they report is true, than

Can you be bought?

Candidate A platform brings war, plutocracy, gov. corruption,  spying on citizens, raises taxes on poor people, etc – BUT also gives special class protections and $400 monthly to people of your race..

Candidate B platform ends war, ends plutocracy, makes gov honest and open and accountable to citizens, equalizes economic well-being of all citizens, raises taxes on wealthy, etc –BUT does not give special class protections or money for people of your race.

Which candidate would you vote for A or B?

A great article that explains the problems of global capitalism in terms we can all understand is Prof. William I. Robinson's: Global Capitalism Is In the Midst of Its Most Severe Crisis Global Capitalism Is In the Midst...: Social Democracy everywhere.

Among other things Robinson states the problem with the  Occupy movement: "In my view the Occupy movement and those like it do not see the need for a clear program, forms of political organization that can sustain a struggle, and for socialism, because if you are anti-capitalist you must be for something that will replace it. As well, how do we overcome the terrible vices and anti-human values that global capitalism inculcates in all of us: individualism, opportunism, selfishness, egos, envy, and so on. How do we create a humane and loving collective culture of the 99 percent?"
Of Venezuela's Hugo Chavez he said, "He placed socialism back on the global agenda at a time when the worldwide left was claiming that there is no alternative to global neo-liberal capitalism. But he also criticized 20th century socialist for its top-down and anti-democratic tendencies. He called for a 21st century socialism from the bottom up. He led a progressive bloc of Latin American social and political forces out of the devastating era of neo-liberal hegemony in Latin America."
And the problems are definitely global, top down to the local. In fact, we are living on a one party planet, as you can see here:

TEHRAN (FNA)- Prominent American sociologist Prof. William I. Robinson believes that the United States government is the biggest perpetrator of terror in the world and its military adventures across the globe have claimed the lives of millions of innocent citizens.
According to Prof. William I. Robinson, “if we define terrorism as the use of violence against civilians for political objectives, then the US state is the world’s leading terrorist.” “US intervention abroad in the 20th century – the forging of a US empire - claimed tens of millions of victims, inflicted untold suffering, and set back the aspirations of freedom and democracy in dozens of countries,” said Prof. Robinson in an exclusive interview with Fars News Agency. Prof. Robinson also went on to say that capitalism, which is the predominant economic and political worldview of the United States and other imperial powers is in the midst of its most severe crisis in close to a century, even worse than the crisis in the 1930s, “because we are on the precipice of an ecological holocaust that threatens the very earth system and the ability to sustain life, ours included, because the means of violence and social control have never before been so concentrated within a single powerful state, and because the global means of communication is also extraordinarily concentrated in the hands of transnational capital and a few powerful states.”  Read entire interview

Consumer Protection is a major concern in light of this Investigative Report:
Look what 2005 "Consumer Protection Act" REALLY meant : Bankruptcy law written to throw consumers impoverished by corrupt banking directly into the streets to die: …

We need Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and many candidates for state offices to follow the lead of Pablo Iglesias and Ada Colau of Spain in demanding an end to private interests and private banking corruption which brought down the economies of many countries and forced people into foreclosure, homelessness, job losses and poverty.  We need courageous leaders who will stand up to the duopoly in this country and we need people to rise up the way they are doing in Spain to redress our grievances, to establish public banks, to demand higher wages, end to bank speculation, guarantee basic human rights, create jobs, end privileges and high incomes to power elites. These are the things the POPE should be standing up to.
